Indonesian agricultural landscape

Our Story

Why we exist

CapitaFood was founded on a clear opportunity: Indonesia's approval as Singapore's 18th SFA-accredited egg source country in 2023 opened a significant new supply corridor. With over 5 million tonnes of annual egg production and geographic proximity to Singapore, Indonesia represents the ideal sourcing partner for businesses looking to diversify and strengthen their supply chains.

But accessing Indonesian supply is not straightforward. Navigating SFA accreditation requirements, coordinating veterinary documentation with Indonesian authorities, establishing relationships with reliable farms, and building logistics corridors requires deep expertise and local relationships.

That's precisely what CapitaFood provides. We've built direct partnerships with accredited Indonesian farms, established proven logistics routes, and developed the regulatory expertise to ensure every shipment meets Singapore's strict import standards.

Our Approach

Three guiding principles.

Indonesia Expertise

Deep knowledge of Indonesia’s egg production landscape, farm accreditation processes, and supply dynamics across Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi.

Compliance First

Every shipment meets SFA’s full requirements: accredited farms, veterinary health certificates, proper documentation. No shortcuts.

Long-Term Partnerships

We build enduring relationships with Indonesian farms, logistics providers, and Singapore buyers. Trust is the foundation of reliable supply chains.

Market Context

The Indonesia opportunity

Indonesia is the world's fifth-largest egg producer, with a well-established poultry industry spanning thousands of farms across Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi. Annual production exceeds 5 million tonnes, providing the scale and consistency that Singapore's import market demands.

Geographic proximity means lower shipping costs and faster transit times compared to more distant approved sources. Combined with competitive farm-gate pricing, Indonesia offers an economically compelling supply option for Singapore businesses of all sizes.

As Singapore's food industry continues to diversify its supply base — driven by SFA's BCP requirements and the lessons of recent global supply disruptions — Indonesia is positioned to become an increasingly important source of Singapore's egg imports.
